A season of thanks

As we head into the season of giving thanks, we find ourselves looking for ways we can give back and support the causes that are close to our hearts. You may have already received appeals from us to donate to Evergreen, along with similar appeals from other organizations. With so many worthy causes, it makes for some tough decisions.

Many Evergreen staffers share a similar experience, but when it comes to supporting the organization they work for, they don’t need to think twice. And since we’re asking you to believe in us, we want to show you why we believe in Evergreen.

We asked a couple of team members to share their inspirations for giving and the responses were infectiously optimistic!

“I donate because I am consistently inspired by our tenants at EBW," says Tara Rogerson, senior project manager for Earned Revenues. "By signing a lease with us, they show that they believe in our values and want to help drive change.” And when it comes to Tara’s work at Evergreen, she says the most exciting part is “our approach to Social Enterprise, and knowing the intention is to have 100 percent of our donations go to programming.”

Sue Arndt, a veteran manager of Common Grounds, was especially inspired by her interactions with community members. “Our community partners and our amazing volunteers inspire me to donate,” she says, adding that the dedication they show in maintaining their local green spaces reaffirms the importance of the work for her.

Finally Jaime Klein, our capital campaign coordinator, recently joined our Donor Living Wall. Her response really sums up how we all feel: “Since I get to be here every day and see the impact we’re making on the ground for kids and community members, it makes me proud to donate my own money! I also feel it’s important for the community to know how much we as an organization believe in the work we do. I think that speaks more than anything to our commitment.”
