On March 3, Better Place launched its electric vehicle (EV) charging project and demonstration centre at Evergreen Brick Works. With a growing need for sustainable transportation and mass-produced electric cars such as the Leaf and Volt becoming a reality, Evergreen is thrilled that Better Place has joined our community.

The year-long pilot project aims to teach the Canadian public about the benefits of electric vehicles, introduce the Better Place infrastructure and network and demonstrate the network and electric vehicle capabilities.

On their network, charge spots communicate with a central operations point that optimizes charging to avoid periods of peak demand and helps ensure electric grid stability, while taking advantage of low electricity prices. Batteries can also be changed faster than it takes to fill a tank of gas, making their range almost limitless!
