Meet Our Neighbours: Outward (and upward!) Bound
L: High Ropes Tower (Photo: Julia Koo) R: Climbing Wall (Photo: Michelle Scrivener)We are excited to introduce Outward Bound Canada, the first in our series profiling like-minded organizations who are part of our community here at Evergreen Brick Works. We hope to build a lasting partnership with Outward Bound that will serve to deepen the connection between our visitors and nature through their adventure-based education programs.
Since 1969, Outward Bound Canada (OBC) has been the leading international not-for-profit organization for experiential education, helping youth, schools, and community groups unleash human potential through challenging experiences in unfamiliar environments. They also offer specialized professional development and team building opportunities for corporate groups and educators. To deliver their programs at Evergreen Brick Works, Outward Bound uses unique tools like a bouldering wall, a 30-foot portable climbing wall and a custom-built 60-foot high-ropes “Challenge Tower.” The wall has been used at several of our Saturday Farmers’ Markets, and the Tower will be available for program use starting in March.

Try out your bouldering skills, belay each other on the Tower, test your innate ‘spidey-sense’ as you climb the wall and go for a guided ravine hike! Outward Bound Canada’s experienced and engaged staff looks forward to seeing you here. They want you to have fun, learn something new and enjoy our beautiful urban centre with your friends and family.
For more info on OBC’s offerings at Evergreen Brick Works and beyond check out their Urban Programs on their website. We hope to see you ‘hanging around’ on April 30!
