MOVE Charrette: Leveraging greenways and waterways
Today was a highly productive day in terms of taking our brainstorming and putting it on the ground.
On Friday, the team used an interactive brainstorming process in which ideas where written on "post-it notes" and then categorized into several fundamental principles. Once the ideas were written and compartmentalized, a group mandate was developed. Our philosophy/objective is to re-imagine green spaces as sacred and move towards a more biocentric rather than human-centred perspective of our greenways and waterways.
Once we had a set of key ideas we felt that it would be best to develop a narrative with four different perspectives. Through the vantage point of a water droplet, a fox, a commuter and a group of people out for recreation, we folded our ideas and key visions into the stories. Our end goal was to develop a master plan describing the "ideal” use of greenways and waterways in the GTHA.
After writing our forward-thinking narratives we were able to see how our group envisions the future of waterways and greenways and what our next steps should be. We used that as a jumping board, dividing up the tasks and deliverables we need to have completed for Sunday night.
