Despite its elegant appearance, this is a truly hearty plant that thrives in a wide variety of soil conditions, from dry to moist and from clay to sand—and in sunny or shady spots too.
Blooming in August to October, heart-leaved aster will herald in the fall and keep your garden looking pretty: its blossoms range from white to light pink to violet depending on exposure to the sun, and the central disc of the flower is a vibrant yellow that turns deep red. This perennial plant will grow between one and four feet tall, and will return year after year to fill your garden with autumn flowers.
This native plant is typically found in woodland settings, but will happily grow in your garden or yard—stop by Evergreen Gardens and take one home for $3.19. Check it out on our Native Plant Database, along with other beautiful native flowers that love to grow strong in their indigenous environment.
