MacDougall, MacDougall & MacTier helps Outward Bound and Evergreen reach new heights
L: Geoff Cape and Bart MacDougall at the Tower Dedication event R: The Tower with its new signOn an unusually Spring-like January afternoon, staff and friends of Evergreen and Outward Bound Canada (OBC) gathered by the MacDougall Outward Bound Challenge Tower to celebrate the generosity of MacDougall, MacDougall & MacTier Inc.’s Bart MacDougall. Bart, a long-time Evergreen champion, envisioned a more inclusive, urban hub for OBC’s headquarters that inspired an innovative partnership with Evergreen.
“While the wilderness has been our classroom for decades, and still is, it is difficult to deliver economically to large numbers of students,” said Bart. “To be able to provide programs in an urban setting like this is truly magical. Furthermore, we can target urban youth that would be beyond our capability if the wilderness was our only classroom.”
The MacDougall Outward Bound Challenge Tower, at more than 18 metres tall, is a highlight for the youth who participate in OBC’s programs on the Evergreen Brick Works campus. Teens work together to scale new heights, provide encouragement and overcome the obstacles together.
